The Savannah collection offers you this country-style changing table. It features rounded safety rails for your baby's safety and comfort. Two practical drawers and three open storage compartments keep everything you need to care for your little one within easy reach. Interior drawer dimensions : 13-1/2" wide by 14-1/4" front to back. This product is manufactured in compliance with consumer health and safety laws and ASTM standard F2057. It is made of recycled CARB compliant particle pannels. The glides are made of polymer and include dampers and catches, creating a secure environment for little ones. It has to be assembled by two adults. Measures 35" wide by 20" deep by 37" high. It is delivered in one box measuring 38" by 20" by 7" and weights 82-pound. This product has been designed to match most espresso-finish cribs on the market today. we bought the south shore savanah changing table because it was not expensive and fit into our apt. It was delivered promptly nicely packaged. I am not handy and I knew that this would take me a long time to build but when i opened the box and saw the amount of parts i flipped, to make matters worse the instructions were so hard to figure out. I ended up hiring a handyman and it took him 2 hours and cost me $50. But after all that it was worth it. The changing table is beautiful and very sturdy it looks like a $400 piece. If your looking for a great changing table at a great price this is your best bet. (just be aware its frustrating to build)
We finally put this changing table together today since we're expecting our son to make his entrance within a month. The quality of the piece is very good for the price. The changing table did acquire a few kinks during shipping, but a "blemish marker" was included in the package, so kinks are hardly noticable once smoothed over.
However, this piece of furniture is VERY complicated to assemble - I consider myself to be pretty handy, but it took my husband and I 3 hours to put the piece together. The instructions are mostly spot-on and easy to figure out, but we did run into the problem of confusing two kinds of almost identical black screws (one type is slightly bigger than the other) and could not complete one of the very last cosmetic steps since we had already used up the bigger screws at the start of the assembly.
Also, we had some pieces leftover that didn't seem to be required... but better too many than not enough!
Once assembled, the table is gorgeous and looks more expensive than it was, we really like it and it's very easy to accessorize! - but be aware that assembly is quite a headache. What's not mentioned here is that you'll need two people, a hammer and a versatile screwdriver (standard, phillips and robertson) to put this together and the fact that one of the safety steps recommends screwing the table to the wall, which we can't do as it would violate our townhouse renting contract. While it doesn't seem like a safety hazard for at least a few years (if at all), it's worth making sure that won't be an issue if you're renting!
