Customer Reviews
Be wary of positive reviews that give a high rating for the concept of co-sleeping, rather than for the merits of this product. Co-sleeping is indeed a great idea, but this product is not great. I wish I had read more negative reviews before purchasing. Thanks to Amazon for quick and easy returns! In the end, I bought the Graco Travel Lite bassinet instead and I'm MUCH happier with it.
Major issues:
1) You may have difficulty attaching this co-sleeper safely to a bed with side rails (ours are upholstered) and to a bed without a traditional mattress/box spring setup. It did not mention this on the actual Arms-Reach website.
2) This is not a well-designed product in terms of set-up, take down, and appearance. You know how some products just seem to work and "feel right" out of the box, and some cause headaches the minute they are opened? This product is in the latter category. The instructions are OK, but the mechanisms and parts are very awkward, clunky, and sometimes counter-intuitive. Just to give you a idea: I broke two nails (not manicured) and cut my knuckle during the process of getting it set-up and taking it apart.
3) The mattress on this product is terrible. I know that newborn mattresses should be very firm, but this was like some thin packing foam over cardboard with ridges that did not go away even after laying it flat for quite some time. The Graco bassinet I mentioned above is a similar style of product, but its lightly quilted mattress is a giant step up from this.
I don't know about the other Arms-Reach products, perhaps the standard-size or the the non-convertible versions are better designed, but I would recommend staying away from this product.
